The Brandon Jazz Festival is proud to announce several scholarships that will be awarded in partnership with our generous sponsors at the 2008 Brandon Jazz Festival and the recipients will be announced soon.

PRESIDENT'S BRANDON JAZZ FESTIVAL SCHOLARSHIP

Brandon University School of Music

The President's Brandon Jazz Festival Scholarship covers full tuition for one year at the School of Music, Brandon University and will be awarded to an entering student who delivers an outstanding performance in a live audition during the Brandon Jazz Festival. Applicants for the 2008 award must be eligible to attend Brandon University in the fall of 2008 and must gain admission to the School of Music.

YAMAHA - OUTSTANDING MUSICIAN AWARDS

Yamaha Canada Music

Yamaha is proud to sponsor two scholarships to recognize outstanding young musicians in Manitoba. Yamaha carries a complete line-up of instruments including keyboards, drums, bass guitars and all wind instruments and we appreciate their support of the talent in our school music programs.

INTERNATIONAL MUSIC CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS

International Music Camp

The International Music Camp will award two full camp scholarships, one each to an outstanding instrumental soloist and outstanding vocal soloist, as selected by the adjudicators. The recipients must use the scholarship to attend the respective jazz week at the camp held at the Peace Garden on the border of Manitoba and North Dakota during the summer of 2008. We appreciate the continued support of Mr. Tim Wollenzien, IMC Camp Director for generously donating these scholarships.

UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA SUMMER JAZZ CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS

University of Manitoba Jazz Camp

Six outstanding rhythm section players, selected by the adjudicators, will receive scholarships to the University of Manitoba Summer Jazz Camp. Each scholarship is valued at $200.

Karson Bringedahl – Greenall School

Two $100 scholarships to the University of Manitoba Summer Jazz Camp will be awarded to outstanding vocalists, as selected by the adjudicators.

Yvanne Dandan – Daniel McIntyre Collegiate

Sheera Lumahang – Maples Collegiate

JUPITER OUTSTANDING TROMBONIST AWARD

Jupiter

The outstanding trombonist of the Brandon Jazz Festival as selected will receive a brand new model JSL 534L Jupiter trombone. This trombone is graciously donated by Jupiter and Coast Music and we thank them for this generous scholarship.

LEVY'S OUTSTANDING GUITAR PLAYER AWARD

Levy's Leathers

The outstanding guitar player of the Brandon Jazz Festival will receive a deluxe guitar bag courtesy of Levy's Leather of Winnipeg. This beautiful black gig bag with shoulder strap will recognize outstanding jazz performance as selected by the adjudicators. We thank Levy's for their generous support of talented young jazz musicians attending the Brandon Jazz Festival.

SABIAN OUTSTANDING DRUMMER AWARD

Sabian

The outstanding drummer of the Brandon Jazz Festival as selected by our adjudicators will receive a Sabian, 16" pro Sonix crash cymbal. We wish to acknowledge and thank Sabian for contributing this beautiful cymbal and for their support over the years.

COMOX VALLEY YOUTH MUSIC

Comox Valley Youth Music

Comox Valley Youth Music Centre is proud to support Brandon Jazz Festival by providing 2 x $100 bursaries towards this years CYMC 41st Anniversary summer program. Bursaries will be awarded to deserving students through adjudicator recommendation.
