Bassist and Composer Ashley Summers has collected musical experiences and opportunities that reach well beyond her years, and her talents have brought her to stages all over the world. As a member of IAJE’s Sisters In Jazz Quintet in 2003, she performed at the Mary Lou Williams Women In Jazz Festival in Washington, DC, as well as such legendary festivals as Jazz a Vienne in France, the North Sea Jazz Festival in Amsterdam, and the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy. More recently, Ashley has been busy touring in the US, playing such celebrated clubs as Chris' Jazz Cafe in Philadephia, Andy’s in Chicago, and the Cleveland Bop Stop.
Aside from keeping a busy performance schedule, Ashley is also an in-demand educator. She currently serves as director for IAJE Canada's Jazzmobile, which places professional jazz musicians in Canadian schools to motivate, educate and inspire young musicians. After spending some time exploring the jazz scene in Paris, she is currently based in Toronto, working on new music and planning Jazzmobile’s 2010 tour.
